Data is collected, processed and maintained by Upwords (tax number 510 942 679), headquartered at Rua Agostinho Neto, 21F 1750-003 Lisboa, Portugal.

Upwords gathers data, including personal data, in the following ways:

  • Business process;
  • General information requests;
  • Budget requests;
  • Online forms;
  • Event management (in person and/or online);
  • Recruitment or spontaneous application processes;
  • Consultation processes.

Depending on the nature of the interaction, and only when necessary, Upwords may request some personal data, including name, email, address, telephone number, identification document number/tax number, date of birth, gender, nationality, academic qualifications, professional status and/or bank/payment details.

Why we collect data

Upwords only collects and processes strictly necessary data, only in connection with the matter at hand, in accordance with the data owner’s consent and for legitimate purposes, such as:

  • Providing a suitable and targeted response to requests for information/proposal;
  • Communicating better with you on relevant matters as required, and only with the necessary frequency, according to the nature of your data and your personal preferences;
  • For business purposes, in particular, to obtain statistical data that will help us improve our performance;
  • Invoicing for services/products.

Whenever there is no specific legal obligation, personal data will be processed and stored by Upwords only for as long as it is necessary to complete the defined task. The commercial relationship between Upwords and the data owners is ongoing.

The period of time your data is retained may change significantly when used for scientific or statistical purposes, although Upwords undertakes to apply appropriate retention and security measures. As soon as the data is no longer required for the fulfilment of contractual or legal obligations, it will be erased or periodically deleted.

Sharing data

Upwords may share your personal data with third parties, ensuring that it will be used exclusively for the purposes set out.

When applicable, and for the purpose of carrying out the activities in which it is involved, Upwords may share your information with organisations with which it has an operational partnership.

Digital Marketing Service Providers

We periodically appoint digital marketing agents to conduct marketing activity on our behalf, such activity may result in the compliant processing of personal information.

Data protection rights

You may exercise your rights, as set out in the GDPR, at any time, including your right to: information (articles 13 and 14), access (article 15), rectify mistakes (article 16), erase data (article 17), restrict processing (article 18), portability (article 20), object (article 21) and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (article 77).

When the use of your personal data is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw this consent without compromising the validity of the data that has been processed up to that point.

For reasons of security and protection, you may be required to provide proof of identity should you request any information about your personal data in our possession.

We employ a range of appropriate security technologies and procedures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, use or sharing; as well as database and information systems access and monitoring controls that employ security policies that are in line with information security best practices.

Changes to the privacy policy

This privacy policy may be updated whenever necessary.

We will alter the “updated” date whenever we make changes to this policy.
