- What do you call a kid who doesn’t believe in Santa?
- A rebel without a Claus…
No? Not funny enough? Can I have another chance? Great! Hang on, let me search my Christmas joke records… Wait a minute… hmmm, bingo! Ok, let’s try again. Are you ready? Here goes:
- Why don’t crabs celebrate Christmas?
- Because they’re shell-fish!
Ok, I know that these are not the best Christmas jokes you’ve ever heard, but I’m sure that maybe, for a moment, you have forgotten about your stressed life. If you have, this was my Christmas gift! Well, talking about gifts and all, have you thought about what you will be giving your clients? Please, don’t tell me that you’ll be sending them one of those “incredible" jokes…
Your clients from around the world shared the best and worst moments with you and your company throughout the year and they deserve a “Thank you” note, at least! Ok, I get it. You need to speak their language but you don’t know what the correct approach is – am I right?
Well, don’t feel bad about that! It is not possible to know every language; that’s why we have translators. But, please, do me a favour: don’t get an automatic translation tool to do the job for you. Here are three reasons why:
- If you don’t have mastery of the language that you’re translating into, the mistakes can be outrageous, which might lead your client to think that you don’t care about them enough to hire a translation service;
- Each country has its own way with words, even though the language might be the same. For example: in Spain and Colombia, Santa Claus is known as Papá Noel; however, in Chile, Santa Claus is known as Viejito Pascuero, and in Mexico and Central America, he is simply known as Santa Claus;
- When you translate a text automatically, it’s impossible to add just the right tone.
Having a native speaker from your client’s country translate your message is the key to guaranteeing that your message will be delivered appropriately. Your client, on the other hand, will notice how careful you were and will feel flattered by your words. The outcome of having a satisfied customer who feels valued by your company is more business together and increased revenue for you!
So, please: choose a perfect translation, one with proofreading and localisation services. I guarantee that your delighted client will give you incredible, unforgettable feedback. You won’t regret it!
And to draw a close on this great chat about how you should be more sensitive when you deliver a message to your client, just one more joke. Last one, I promise:
- What do you call Santa when he takes a break?
- Santa Pause!
Ok, I’m done.
Happy holidays!
